Cuba: Paradise
Epic colonial architecture, libidinous young salsa dancers, Che Guevara murals, white-powder sandy beaches, swaying fields of sugar cane - the images of Cuba are as transfixing as they are timeless. This is an island of unique historical heritage floating amid a sea of encroaching globalisation. Travel in Cuba can involve anything from sipping mojittos at an all-inclusive resort in Varadero to scraping the spit and sawdust off your shoes outside the Casa de las Tradiciones in Santiago.
| The subject I enjoyed photographing in Cuba the most was, of course, the people. This was maybe my most personal trip, since I travelled there alone. |

Spotted this Cubano on his way to a gig in the town of Trinidad, Cuba.

| During my trip to Cuba I 'rediscovered' a technique for shooting that I enjoyed using a lot. I would plunk myself down in front of some interesting street scene, usually just a cool wall, and wait for someone or something to move into the frame to complete the composition. |

One of my most memorable moments in Havana.
Somewhere along one of the lesser travelled side streets in the colonial town of Trinidad, Cuba. | Occasional vegetarian, Mark Boucher, is an avid photographer living in the Toronto area.
