Getting Understanding

I just back from Thailand. I was mostly in the north. Lot of good food to eat. Lot of interesting culture to learn about. Lot of bang for buck.

I head for Medellin's new airport near Rio Negro. I haven't been to Medellin since 1967. Imagin that there have been a few changes. I stayed in Medellin in the '60s, may not this time. Ifeel more comfortable in smaller places.

My 'plan' for this trip was to take a qwuick look at the Andean Highlands of Venezuela and then go on to explore Bolivia pretty well. I have only set foot in Venezuel and only imagined Bolivia as I looked accross Titicaca. So both are new to me. More generally I am looking for a place to stay for a couple of months or so that has excellent air quality and has a very inexpensive cost of living.

I'm on my way to Colombia because Bolivian visa, or no visa, requirements seem to be in fluk and Flights to Venezuela relatively expensive. Besides Colombia is beautiful and the people in the highlands representative of the highest culture to be found in the Americas.

For now I will play it by ear, follow my nose, and do what comes naturally.

Probably best to find me here, but you might check http://isness-primordial.blogspot.com as well.

Going to Austin this weekend
So I have a fun travel schedule in the spring: This weekend I am heading to Austin, TX for the SXSW conference! It's going to be a lot of fun. I am going with a buddy and hoping to make some new contacts. In addition to that, me and the lady friend will be heading to Honduras in mid-march for semana santa! If you're in Honduras, I'll be looking for some tips!

Travels in 2007

Well, 2007 started with no real travel plans, but here is a list of all the wonderful places I got to visit:

  • January: Ft Deposit, Alabama, USA
  • March: New York City (it was cold)
  • May: Seagrove Beach, Florida (it was hot)
  • June and August: New Orleans, Louisiana (it was New Orleans)
  • October: Budapest, Prague, Vienna (it was fabulous)
  • November: Tuscaloosa, Alabama for the LSU vs AL game (it was exciting, but disappointing at the end)
  • December: New York City (again-it snowed and I shopped) and Washington, DC (family road-trip that was awesome)

So, you never know what a year has in store for you in the way of travel. Mine started out with just Ft Deposit, AL, but took me around the world and to New York City TWICE. I am lucky.

Get out and travel in 2008, even a short trip can be an adventure if you have the right attitude!
